The Arts Desk – Film Reviews on The Latest Movie Releases

This week’s movie releases range from the sublime to the ridiculous, according to The Arts Desk’s reviewers.

To begin on a positive, Adam Sweeting was full of praise for Morgan Spurlock’s documentary ‘The Greatest Film Ever Sold’. With the same zeal and dedication which he brought to ‘Super Size Me’, Spurlock here makes a film about advertising and product placement by having it entirely financed by advertising and product placement. It turns out that he’s a great salesman, and manages to flog his film to various companies who then, of course, contractually demand that his film have their products and logos splashed all over it – they can even dictate where he stays and how he travels. His skilled ability to get to the bottom of these mercenary deals on camera allows the film to speak volumes, and also makes it unfailingly entertaining. Moreover it left Sweeting wondering just how outrageous such deals must be when the movie in question is a big-budget Hollywood offering.

At the other end of the spectrum, ASH Smyth could find nothing whatsoever to recommend about Paul WS Anderson’s 3D Hollywood blockbuster ‘The Three Musketeers’, which manages to take the classic story by Alexander Dumas and turn it into an absurd mess involving the Duke of Buckingham’s dastardly (and inexplicable) plans for war with France by way of jewel heists and zeppelins. Smyth found a mishmash of half-baked action, comedy and drama that references a hodgepodge of other films, enacted by a disappointing cast including Orlando Bloom, Logan Lerman, Matthew Macfadyen, James Corden and Christophe Waltz. Add to that the paucity of actual sword play and the ineffectual 3D effects, and the overall result was a shameful waste of its 100 million budget.

The Changing Face of Entertainment News And Reviews in The 21st Century

Whether it’s the latest album reviews or news about the big budget films that are about to hit the cinemas, the landscape of entertainment news throughout the industry changed irrevocably in the advent of the 21st century. Though the initial foundations for the massive shift were originally put in place from the mid to latter 1990s, the full effects of the shift have only started to hit fully throughout the 2000s. Now, in the teens of a whole new millennium the move is almost complete, bringing news and reviews on demand and online.

Throughout the 1900s, entertainment news was largely the domain of print publications. Magazines and newspapers have been featuring the latest and greatest from the industry since before the First World War. However, it was the 50s and 60s that saw them come into their own, probably spurred on by the materialisation of in-home entertainment with the growth of television availability and the rock and roll explosion.

Magazines like NME and Melody Maker had phenomenal readership figures in their early years and newspapers like the Sun in the United Kingdom achieved much of their success from covering the more glamorous side of life. However, as the home computer took hold in the latter stages of the 19th century, a new form of entertainment news provider started to materialise. The internet became a phenomenon overnight in the mid to late 90s and as more and more people logged on, more and more people found their news from online sources.

Tips To Find The Best Online Casino Reviews

Online casino reviews are more than helpful in understanding the nature and features of the online casino games. Naturally, the players who are new to the online casinos are recommended to check out these reviews to get a hang of the sites. These reviews are easily available online. So, anybody can find them out and read through them. However, before doing that, it is important to check out the pros and cons carefully.

Remember, reviews are a very powerful tool to form the opinion of the readers. So, you should always ensure that the review you are reading is impartial and honest. Otherwise, it can create a false sense of satisfaction. More importantly, it will lead you to the wrong website with which you will never be satisfied. So, check out the credibility of the review before forming any opinion.

Types of reviews

There are basically two types of reviews available in the internet. First of all, there are reviews written by the developers and owners of the online casinos. These reviews will give you a detail description of the features and facilities offered by the game. However, these reviews are not likely to highlight the drawbacks and limitations. So, these reviews should be a good resource to understand the features and not to form any opinion.

3D Movie Reviews Different Than 2D

Haven’t we all watched a movie and come out of the theater, or gotten off the couch, feeling like the best person for writing a review about that movie just viewed? Haven’t we all had endless discussions with our peers wondering why the movie got a bad review or vice versa? And hasn’t it happened sometimes that you walk out of a 3d movie wondering whether the glasses were bad or are you the only one who didn’t feel the 3d effects?

I think it’s fairly safe to assume that at least a sizable amount of people will answer with a yes to at least two of the above. That then brings us to the fact that all reviews are not reliable. Especially when it comes to 3d movie reviews. Quite often what happens is that the reviewers do not give a fair picture of the 3d effects.

In Avatar, for example, there was so much talk about James Cameron’s vision and how wonderful the Navi world is but there is not much to go by when it comes to the effects. It quite led my dad astray as to what to expect from it and in the process he ended up watching it for its storyline and completely missed out on the beautiful effects that the 3d version had. No wonder, he came out of the hall wondering what all the fuss was about. For how can one call Avatar a complete movie experience without the beautiful glowing navi fireflies passing by your eyes or the wonderful foliage of that other world? Ne I am certain that without 3d effects Avatar would just not be as enjoyable. And that’s exactly what my dad confirmed for me by watching it sans the same.

The Positive Role Of Online Casino Reviews

Online casino reviewers are famous and always in-demand for top online casino operators. They have this role in publicizing and broadcasting some new or featured online casino sites which becomes the major concern not only for these casino operators but also for online casino players. Though some casino review sites benefited from their featured online gambling sites, they still convey the sense of equity as a critic.

Unlike some web site reviews, online casino critiques focus not only with the quality, theme, or appearance of a casino web site but also its over-all campaign as a casino operator. Gambling reviews may include the program or software used in each online casino games, the manufacturer of the games software, the free comps or casino bonus offerings, pay-out methods, money deposit scheme, and information or transaction security. Most of the time, casino players look up to online casino companies that use games software manufactured by well reputed gambling software provider like Microgaming, Playtech and Cryptologic.

With online casino reviews, casino operators tend to maximize their gambling entertainment services solely for the benefit of the players and customers. The competition for top online reviews among online casino operators sure promises some good result to the casino gambling industry. It could either trigger more huge bonus offerings for players and/or shy off some bad reputed online casinos and minimize scams. Likewise, online casino reviewers threaten some casino operators from further fraudulence through publishing blacklisted casinos for the benefit of online casino gamblers.
